We talked about Djing a lot. but not because we wanted to do it.
Growing up in LA county I was exposed to mostly hip hop, pop, modern rock, some jazz and the baby grand. Born 1986 year of the Tiger. We had piano lessons every Monday for a half hour each kid from the time I was five to fourteen, when I convinced my mom to let us quit. I felt bad for quitting. Piano was expensive. I wasn't the best at practicing and would lie on my reports the the teacher Mrs. Lew.
The first DJ I saw live was my classmate Jimmy. Spins as Jimbo Jenkins in Pomona now. I listend to Blink 182, NSYNC, Boys II Men, Mariah Carey, etc, American *Clear Channel Radio (Google that). I started trading CDs in middle school with Alan and Albert during concert band. DJ Girl and DJ Mystik are some of my favorites. Will try to revive their songs later. Got super into techno, trance, hardstyle, happy hardcore was my favorite though. But, not many people listened to these types of songs then, in this area.
High school, FRESHMAN, 14, water polo, soccer, swimming, concert band, marching band, quit piano for 8 years.
Graduate, college, college parties. Meet up with my college roommates Tarek and Sean. All transferring to same school = getting a house together. A house with a garage in the backyard. Corner house, at CSULB. My roommate spun under the alias Robbed by Robots for several years. MTV offered to come film a party one time, but there were too many risks involved. Sparked an interest of mine in DJing.
